Environmental Compliance Audits (ECA)

Service Overview

Environmental compliance audit is an independent evaluation of a company’s environmental legal requirements and an assessment of how the company complies with those requirements. It includes not only a compliance review, but also regular reporting requirements and schedules for correcting problem areas discovered during the audit. The ECA report designates the status of the business as, full compliance, partial compliance, or non-compliance.

The report also indicates the laws and policies the company follows and where the company is non-compliant. In the event of non-compliance, the report provides advisory action to improve overall environmental legal compliance. Once an audit program is in place, future environmental compliance audits will refer to past reports to look for repeat non-compliance, as well as to measure what progress has been made in the implementation of prior recommendations.

We conduct Environmental Audits through experts registered by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) under the provisions of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA), 1999, who review individual facility or company-wide operations. As defined in the Environment (Impact Assessment and Audits) Regulations, 2003, the Environmental Audits must be conducted annually, and must conform to EMCA’s definition of environmental audit.
